Day 5: Getting people to your new blog

You don't need millions of followers to make money blogging. But getting visitors to your website is something you'll want to increase if you want to continually increase your income.
So how do you grow your audience to thousands, even millions of people flocking to your little website or blog every single day (even when nobody knows who the heck you are)?

I’m not one for fluff and theory, so I’ll just share with you exactly how I’m able to attract hundreds of thousands or consistent monthly visitors to my websites.

Use these 3 proven strategies to attract your first 1,000 readers and grow your blog — fast!

1. Pinterest.

I’m kind of obsessed with Pinterest.

Pinterest is one of the biggest consistent drivers of free traffic to my various online businesses.

Many people think of Pinterest as just a girly website where you go to pin pretty pictures to random boards.

But if you think deeper about how Pinterest actually works, it will make a lot of sense why Pinterest is one of my secret weapons.

When you compare what differentiates and makes Pinterest better than Instagram (in my opinion) is that Pinterest is actually a search engine.

People use Pinterest to look for inspiration and ideas of things that they may be interested in making, doing or buying.

That’s insanely powerful.

Another great thing about Pinterest is that Pinterest has a massive user base and very low competition to get in front of them.

While everyone's stressing about hashtags and Instagram followers, you can get thousands of people to your website by posting great content for fabulous readers on Pinterest.

2. Google.

Everyone knows to “just google it” when you're looking for something on the web.

But new business gets scared off because they have the false perception that getting to the first page of Google hard.

Getting to page one of Google is actually is very easy — when you have the right strategy.

One strategy that works incredibly well for me is focusing on what I call ‘long-tail key phrases' rather than focusing on keywords as many businesses do.

While it's nearly impossible to rank for the keyword “hairstyles” when you're competing against way bigger more established websites. You’d be shocked at how easy it is to rank for more specific long term key phrases like “short curly hairstyles for weddings” (terms people are actually searching).

It’s all about strategy baby!

**QUICK INTERRUPTION**

I know marketing talk can be a bit advanced, especially if you're a beginner, but I have faith this is all making sense. If not, just stick with me, you'll learn all this stuff in due time.

3. Facebook groups. Forums. Guest Posting.

The people that you want to attract to your website are already hanging out on the internet somewhere.

They’re hanging out on different blogs, on different forums, and in different Facebook groups.

If you want to steal these people and attract them to your own blog or website…

Go where the fish are! That’s how you catch fish darling.

Where is your audience is already hanging out online?

Meet your audience where they are, interact, and show them the awesome value you have to share.

BONUS Traffic Strategy:  Build an email list.

One of the best ways of promoting your blog and getting traffic is much simpler than you might think.

Instead of looking outwards for new people constantly, grow an email list so that you can keep attracting the people you already have.

As much as 95% of people that come to your website for the first time will never come back. People get busy. People forget.

But if you give them the opportunity to leave you their email address by signing up for your newsletter, you can always send them a note every time when you've published something new to get them to keep coming back.

I use a program for my blog called Active Campaign that I use to collect email addresses and send my subscribers messages (like this one).

Active Campaign has been a driver of growth and revenue for my blog, and something I can’t recommend enough.

Aye yi yi!

I know that's a lot of information. But if you're still with me, you're already FAR ahead of me when I first started blogging and making money from it.
